Technical Assistant

We are on the lookout for a Technical Assistant to join our award-winning lot feeding team at Stockyard's Kerwee Feedlot. As a Technical Assistant, you will play a key role in supporting Stockyard’s Lot Feeding and Pastoral Operations. Your work will contribute to genetic improvement, operational performance, research trials and quality assurance standards across the business. Based primarily at the Kerwee Feedlot, the position also involves occasional travel to our Pastoral properties in the New England region of NSW. You will work closely with a diverse group of stakeholders, including operational teams, leadership, suppliers, service providers and customers to help drive continuous improvement across the business.
responsibilities

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

Genetic and Performance Data

  • In collaboration with Stockyard Pastoral Leadership Team, support the implementation and monitoring of the genetic and operational plan, principally through data recording and management.
  • Accurate measurement and input of pastoral herd and feedlot performance data.  
  • Maintain detailed and up-to-date genetic and farm management records within Stockyard’s information systems.

Trials and Projects

  • Management and technical support of the Vytelle GrowSafe and C-Lock GreenFeed systems, including equipment maintenance, data integrity, analytics and reporting.
  • Technical, operational and data support on performance-based trials within Stockyard Pastoral and/or Stockyard Lot Feeders.  

Quality Assurance

  • Collaboration with the Stockyard leadership team in quality assurance requirements across operations.
  • Supply accurate and concise information to support the maintenance of quality assurance metrics.
  • Support audits and other quality assurance routine measures.

Team

  • Ensure that all aspects of employee relations area effectively managed including

- Daily feedlot and on-farm procedures management

- Safe workplace practices

- Employee training accreditations and competencies

- Company management procedures and policy management

  • Support related group activities including Stockyard Pastoral, Stockyard Lot Feeders and Stockyard Beef operations. Contribute positively to finding solutions when group needs temporarily exceed resource capacity.
  • Communicate well with management and all employees to ensure daily and weekly schedules are planned effectively
Qualifications

KNOWLEDGE

  • Cattle operation and movements

EXPERIENCE

  • Livestock handling software
  • Basic equipment maintenance
  • Data collection and record keeping

SKILLS & QUALIFICATIONS

  • Excellent Microsoft Word and Excel skills.
  • High level of attention to detail.
  • Good communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Excellent organisation and multitasking skills.
  • Maintain professionalism and confidentiality with all materials.
