We’re dedicated to bringing people together over an outstanding piece of beef.

And we’ve been doing it since 1958. We breed, raise and feed premium grain-fed Wagyu and Angus cattle from our property located at Jondaryan, on the famous Darling Downs. Our Stockyard branded beef can be found in award winning restaurants, leading hotels and amongst family and friends here in Australia and in over 20 international markets.

Stockyard was established by Del and Robin Hart A.M, who dedicated their careers to the pursuit of uncovering the secret to creating the best beef. Our company is now led by Robin’s son, Lachie Hart and his wife Sarah, and our vision is largely unchanged – we’re aiming to be Australia’s most renowned beef.

Our history

From one couple and small beginnings over half a century ago, Stockyard has grown to a multi-generational family operation that sells premium beef domestically and to over 20 international markets.

Our founders Robin and Del Hart first began their cattle breeding operations in 1958. Alongside their Eidsvold breeding property, the pair started lot feeding cattle at “Berwick” property, the home of Kerwee feedlot, in 1965, largely for local butcher shops.

In 1969 after a trip to Japan, the Hart family’s efforts shifted to focus on producing a premium beef product that could meet the demands for flavour, tenderness, colour and aroma of the Japanese consumer. That trip in 1969 set the direction for our business and our focus has been unwavering ever since. In 1973, a brand for our premium grain-fed beef products was born to bring our beef to the global market. Then it was called Stockyard Meat Packers. Today, we’ve simplified it to Stockyard.

The business has grown exponentially since those early days – from a finishing facility with 200 head capacity to over 20,000 head today. Our grain-fed beef brand is the most awarded across Australia.

 

Our teams

 

Management

Our management team looks after Australia’s most awarded beef brand and a first-class cattle finishing facility. The individuals have a wealth of expertise behind them and are absolute experts in their fields.

Sales & Marketing

Based in our Brisbane office, the sales and marketing team connect consumers with our products by partnering with the best distributors both internationally and here in Australia. In their day to day, they manage orders, product specification compliance, logistics, export documentation, and they care for the renowned Stockyard brand.

Finance & Admin

Facilitating the continued growth and development of our company, this is the team who help manage our supplier and operations relationships. They maintain the highest quality assurance programs and support the whole operation to deliver consistently beyond the exacting standards set by our customers.

Livestock

Deeply respected for their extensive experience in cattle handling and animal welfare, our livestock team look after the daily needs of our bovine guests.  From the day our animals are born to the moment they leave the feedlot, this team personally manage the needs of individual animals. They ensure we meet the 5 freedoms of our cattle every day and that every interaction between us and the animals is as positive as possible.

Maintenance

This team runs a tight ship at Kerwee and ensure our feedlot is constantly in its best shape. Their hard work is part of the reason we’ve been recognised as ALFA’s feedlot of the year 5 times in a row. Their eagle eyes spot future faults and attend to them, fix broken machinery and allow our Mill and Livestock teams to focus on what they do best.

Feed/Mill Teams

If you ask our cattle, this team has the most important job – feeding over 20,000 animals twice a day, every day. This team mill over 250 tonne of feed a day and deliver it within 10 minutes of our discerning diner’s allocated feeding schedule.
